Dummies and Sleep

The dummy course

The dummy debate is a big one. One minute you are desperately trying to get your little baby to accept a dummy and the next you’re questioning if it’s the dummy that is causing all your sleep issues. Often parents rush to get rid of the dummy, causing further issues and not actually fixing those they thought the dummy was causing in the first place.

What if there was another option, what if you could keep your baby’s comfort AND have good sleep?

If you find yourself saying ‘Yes’ to any of these questions, this course is for you.

Are you unsure if your baby should have a dummy?
Are you worried about the impact the dummy is having on your little one's sleep?
Do you need help setting healthy boundaries around dummy use?
Are you wondering about the best time to start dummy removal?
Would you like a gentle, structured approach to dummy removal?
Would you love to know how to keep a dummy in place for your baby but for it not to have an effect on their sleep?

Who is this course for?

This course is designed for parents and caregivers looking for knowledge and confidence around dummy use – and removal!

If you are questioning if the dummy is affecting your child’s sleep, looking for tips on how to keep your baby’s dummy but ensure there are boundaries and it doesn’t affect sleep or, maybe you’re ready to begin the removal process – this course will provide the guidance you need.

It is suitable for babies and toddlers of all ages, especially parents looking for a gradual and supportive approach to dummy acceptance, independence or removal.

What will you get from this course?

In this three module course, you’ll gain expert insights into dummy use, how to minimise it’s effect on sleep, how to encourage them to be more independent in their dummy use and also, removal strategies. You’ll learn age-appropriate approaches, understand the difference between dummy-related and non-dummy-related sleep issues, and receive practical tools for implementing changes. The course includes a bonus module on cot-to-bed transition, giving you a complete toolkit for these important milestones. You’ll finish feeling confident in your approach, whether you’re setting healthy dummy boundaries or ready to begin the removal journey.

What you will learn

In Module One, you’ll explore the foundations of dummy use, including key dummy rules for all ages and how to identify if the dummy is causing sleep issues. We’ll cover age-appropriate guidelines, and key considerations for different developmental stages. You’ll gain clarity on whether your current dummy situation needs adjustment and how to make informed decisions for your child with tips and tricks.

Module Two focuses on the practical aspects of dummy removal. You’ll learn age-specific preparation ideas, particularly for toddlers, and discover gentle removal techniques for different age groups (under 6 months, 6-24 months, and over 24 months). We’ll explore how to minimise dummy-related issues and understand the difference between protest and upset crying, ensuring you can support your little one through the transition.

The bonus module addresses the important transition from cot to bed, which often coincides with dummy removal. You’ll learn how to time these changes, which to prioritise and strategies to make both transitions smooth for your little one.

Hi I'm Hannah Love

I’ve spent the last 25 years helping families with their babies and children.

In my twenties I completed three university courses – in Paediatric Nursing, Nutritional Therapy and Cranial Sacral Therapy, whilst traveling the world nannying for pro golfers.

In my thirties I raised my own 3 children (Oliver born in 2008, Ella in 2012 and Henry in 2015), built a house, and founded and grew my new parenting business.

Through Sleep Well with Hannah, I’ve brought together all my experience and training to help hundreds of other families learn to juggle family life and, most importantly, sleep well.

I see myself as more than a sleep trainer – my deep knowledge in babies and children is what makes families feel confident in my hands, and is what makes my programmes, talks and courses work.

Through my CALM (Consistent, Achievable, Loving and Manageable®) approach to parenting I not only teach parents how to manage their baby’s feeding, weaning, nutrition, behaviour, and my most popular subject – sleep – I also teach confidence and how to enjoy juggling life with a baby.  My greatest achievement is bringing many families out of dark, sleepless places to enjoying day to day life with their happy, sleeping baby.

I recommend this course to anyone who is struggling with their toddler’s behaviour as this can be a very simple issue to address with the right knowledge and tools, which I will teach you in this course.
